Snoring may be a contributing factor of a more serious condition known as obstructive sleep apnea, which requires medical attention. If left undiagnosed and untreated, it can lead to serious complications such as heart attack, glaucoma, diabetes, cancer, and cognitive and behavioral disorders.
At Santa Clarita ENT (SCENT), we do a thorough patient workup to see if there is some unknown anatomic contributing factor, and once diagnosed we recommend treatment options tailored to address the patient’s specific issue. Many of the treatment options we recommend are minimally invasive, including but not limited to allergy management, turbinate reduction, radio-frequency ablation, the Pillar Procedure, and oral appliances (i.e., continuous positive air pressure (CAP) machines). For some patients, it may be as simple as making some lifestyle changes (i.e., smoking cessation).
